A devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake has hit Haiti, including the densely populated capital Port-Au-Prince and the surrounding area. Although there is as yet no accurate assessment of the death toll it is clear that millions of people live in the affected area. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, greatly increasing the risk that people will suffer or die in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

Communications have been severely disrupted and many roads are blocked with rubble. Despite the challenges, many DEC member agencies are already helping on the ground while others are preparing to do so. Very substantial humanitarian assistance will be required to ensure survivors get food, clean water, emergency shelter, medical care and other support.

HostThree’s story begins back in 2006 when it was originally called Ruff-Hosting. Ruff-Hosting was part of a group of companies that had launched a number of different sites in the gaming, web design and music industries. In 2007 Ruff-Hosting bought over a web hosting company called Orbital-Hosting and decided to re-brand the whole company as the ScotMedia Group. In 2008, HostThree was registered and all of the clients were transferred over to the new brand.

At the moment we have servers in the UK and Germany. Our headquarters can be found in the Scottish city of Glasgow where we manage a number of servers operating Quad Core processors with 8GB of RAM and RAID1 Hard drives in Berkshire, UK. We have a strong belief in small companies and work with a huge amount of people from loads of different backgrounds, we are always honest, bold and open with our customers and look forward to the next couple of years while we expand our business and our clients businesses.
